LPWI Petition to the State of Wisconsin

The LPWI issued a petition for ballot signature clemency  to Gov. Evers, Rep. Vos, Sen. Fitzgerald, and the Wisconsin Elections Commission on the 9th of April.

The petition asked for the reduction or elimination of the signatures needed for a candidate to appear on the ballot. The request was made due to the current  COVID-19 pandemic and current State of Emergency (Safer at home) issued by the Governor’s office.

On April 14th, the Wisconsin State Senate tabled AB1030, which included legislation to allow the  Elections Commission the discretion during a public health emergency ” the commission may modify signature requirements that it considers necessary for public safety or for the administration of any election held during the state of emergency”.

The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin and Libertarian Party National Committee will be working to explore all legal options to fight this.
